Welcome to “The Playground”, a highly customizable Tumblr theme based on the famous jQuery masonry plugin.

If you have questions about the installation or configuration of this theme, please check the FAQ section first in order to see, if there is an answer to your questions. I also use the comment section of this item to answer simple questions.

Update v1.9:

  • fixed a bug with regards to Disqus
  • implemented the Twitter stream in a new way. added an extra option to control the number of tweets that is being displayed in the widget.

Update v1.8:

  • replaced text headers with post format icons
  • fixed an issue with the main background image, which did not show up after uploading
  • switched from Cufon to Google webfonts for custom fonts in headers

Update v1.7:

  • fixed an issue with content header background color
  • bugfix for bold and italic text

Update v1.6:

  • fixed an issue with overflowing tags

Update v1.5:

  • Infinite scrolling can be enabled
  • support for “Ask me anything” and “Submit” posts
  • moved the likes section, because like numbers were cut off for posts having more than 99 likes
  • navigation can be centered

  • included a Social media section on permalink pages, so visitors can directly share your posts on facebook, twitter ect

Here is a complete feature list:

  • 1 minute installation (instructions are included in the detailed theme documentation)
  • all 8 post types are supported (Photo, Photo sets, Video, Audio, Text, Quote, Link, Chat)
  • upload your own logo
  • upload your own background image, which will automatically stretch over the full screen (the texture used on the preview website is included in this theme package)
  • all font and background colors can be changed via the Appearance tab in Tumblr
  • main font can be changed (default: Arial, Helvetica)
  • layout based on the masonry jQuery plugin, which results in a gap-less layout despite different post sizes
  • Cufon font replacement for headers – a slab-serif font called Acknowledgement
  • CSS3 box shadows (only visible in modern browser and degrade gracefully in older versions)
  • a rotating flickr widget by Roy Tanck
  • twitter integration (showing your last 5 tweets)
  • Disqus comment integration
  • Google Analytics integration
  • choose to switch on/off widgets for your Likes and people you follow
  • choose between a center website (default) or left-aligned
  • add your own “Custom CSS” or change the existing CSS file, which is included in this download
  • all supporting files (javascript, css, images ect.) are either hosted as static files or linked to their original sources like github and google
